But I found the process of translating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harvardreview.org\/content\/poems-by-muyaka-bin-haji-al-ghassaniy\/\" title=\"\">this particular poem<\/a> by Muyaka bin Haji al-Ghassaniy so fascinating that I needed another outlet to share everything that happened behind the scenes. You can read the fruit of my agonies <a href=\"https:\/\/ul.qucosa.de\/api\/qucosa%3A85800\/attachment\/ATT-0\/\" title=\"\">&#8220;The Dance of the Spinning Top: Translating Resistance in the Poetry of Muyaka&#8221;<\/a> in the new issue of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gkr.uni-leipzig.de\/en\/swahili-forum\/the-journal\" title=\"\">Swahili Forum<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a much shorter read, I recently had the opportunity to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asymptotejournal.com\/blog\/2023\/05\/22\/the-2023-penheim-grantees-talk-translation-part-i\/\" title=\"\">share some thoughts<\/a> about translating Katama Mkangi&#8217;s Africanfuturist Swahili novel <em>Walenisi <\/em>for <em>Asymptote<\/em>&#8216;s blog, as part of a new series profiling this year&#8217;s PEN\/Heim grantees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And finally, you can read my translation of the first chapter of <em>Walenisi<\/em> in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.catranslation.org\/shop\/book\/no-edges\/\" title=\"\">No Edges: Swahili Stories<\/a><\/em>, the first collection of Swahili fiction to be translated into English.
